Getzner supplies floating floors for rolling stock for Istanbul Metro
Hyundai Rotem has awarded a contract to Getzner to equip 300 new Metro cars with floating floors for the Istanbul M7 underground railway. The elastic bearings supplied by Getzner will absorb vibrations and noise for increased comfort inside the trains. This is the company's first cooperation with the South Korean rail car manufacturer. Overall Getzner will manufacture material for around 107,100 running metres of Sylomer® Fire-retardant linear supports, which will be installed in the carriages in Turkey until 2021.
Contract awarded thanks to technological advance
Sylomer® Fire-retardant is a flame-retardant material developed by Getzner which meets the requirements of the new DIN EN 45545-2 standard. “What won us the order – along with our high-tech material and our technical expertise in this area – was the fact that we can provide all the necessary technical information for floating floors in rolling stock,” says project manager Lukas Tschann. Despite their low overall height, the linear supports are highly effective and ensure compliance with the noise level requirements in the passenger carriages.
