Getzner supports apprentices on green building project in Sonnendorf, Carinthia
At the Sonnendorf site in Finkenstein (Carinthia), apprentices are at work on an energy self-sufficient residential building project. The project involves the building of a number of semi-detached dwellings using green construction methods; most of the houses are being built by apprentices under professional supervision. Getzner is supporting the project, which is giving forward-looking residential building a strong boost, by providing know-how and high-tech materials.
Structure-borne sound, especially impact sound, is a topic that should not be underestimated in modern solid houses: It is caused by movement - such as walking - and can be transmitted to adjacent rooms via walls and ceilings and cause disturbance. The designer improves the transmission behaviour of impact sound by decoupling the vibrating components. For this reason, the concrete staircases in the houses in the Sonnendorf village were mounted on the elastic material Sylomer® from Getzner. "A frequent but easily remedied source of disturbance is impact sound from the staircase. The elastic mounting of the stair flights and landings reduces the transmission of noise and vibration to other parts of the building," explains Alexander Herovitsch, Getzner's project manager.
The Eco-Apprentice Construction Site Sonnendorf is a joint project of various local partners from the building materials industry, the trades and interest groups in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Economics, Family and Youth and the Ministry of Life.
