Moscow: Vibration protection for Bolshoi Theatre and underground stations
Between 2005 and October 2011, the historically important Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow underwent a programme of radical renovation and restoration. Together with its Russian sales partners, Getzner carried out two subprojects in and around the historic building: With its high-tech materials, Getzner was able to provide effective vibration protection both in the adjacent underground stations and in the theatre building itself.
There are three metro stations in the immediate vicinity of the Bolshoi Theatre. In order to effectively protect the adjacent subway stations, but also the fabric of the historic building from unwanted vibrations, Getzner's sales partner Kemoplast successfully implemented a proven Sub Ballast Mat solution in the subway stations.
Getzner's distribution partner Acoustic RU was responsible for the interior design of the Bolshoi Theatre - a follow-up project. The materials Sylodyn® and Sylomer® were used in floors and in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems of the theatre. They effectively protect the theatre building from structure-borne sound transmission and secondary airborne sound. Vibration measurements conducted by the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering confirm the effectiveness of vibration insulation with Getzner materials.
