Bregenz Festival: Special solution from Getzner for André Chénier stage set
This year's Bregenz festival in July is to open with a performance of André Chénier. The gigantic stage set designed for this opera will then be revealed in all its glory. The opera will be performed in Bregenz from July 18th to August 18th. More than 200,000 visitors arrive each year to watch the show on the largest floating stage in the world.
In realizing the extraordinary stage design, Getzner, together with the Bregenz Festival, found an exciting solution for a special effect: The 33 spines hidden in the head of Jean-Paul Marat are not visible at the beginning of the opera. The opening from which these spikes can be extended to the second is closed with a round pad made of Sylomer®. The tips push the material - which has been slit crosswise in the middle - aside when the machine is extended. After retraction, the pad returns to its original shape due to the properties of the elastic material and makes the opening almost invisible.
The project demonstrates Getzner's expertise in finding and implementing special solutions in various areas. Getzner sets standards not only with its vibration control solutions for the railway, construction and industrial sectors, but also with individual special solutions.
