Getzner specialist presentation on the FSK-Symposium foam material 2018
The international FSK-Symposium foam material 2018 is taking place from 28th to 29th of November in Papenburg (Germany). Thomas Gamsjäger, Senior Vice President Industry Division, is presenting current knowledge about the topic „Effective vibration isolation for ships flooring using IMO-certified PU elastomers”.
Getzner has been producing PUR elastomers for elastic floor bearings in ships and yachts since the beginning of the 1980s. Especially in super yachts structure-borne noise decoupling with Sylomer® has become standard worldwide. Amendments to fire protection standards required the development of a flame-retardant polyurethane. This was a major challenge for the in-house research and development department, as polyurethane materials are based on crude oil. Through new procedures and investments in both the test environment and production, Getzner was able to develop the fire protection certified material Sylomer® Marine, which is approved for shipbuilding.
