Getzner Werkstoffe wins Vorarlberg Innovation Award 2023
On 15 June 2023, Getzner Werkstoffe was awarded the Vorarlberg Innovation Prize 2023 by the State of Vorarlberg and the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce. The award was accepted by CEO Jürgen Rainalter and Harald Loy, Head of Research & Development, at the festive award ceremony.
The award went to the increase in stability and safety on the track made possible by the next generation of elastoplastic under sleeper pads.
With this innovation, Getzner addresses all three main goals of modern railway operators:
- Increasing track availability
- Increasing punctuality
- Reduction of CO2 footprint
After several years of development, the innovation has already been able to impressively demonstrate its performance under real operating conditions in the track network of two infrastructure operators. The new development significantly reduces the problem of track buckling.
The jury of the Vorarlberg Innovation Award recognized the high level of research and development and the great potential for reducing the problem of lateral track buckling by increasing the lateral track stability.
The Vorarlberg Innovation Prize is awarded every two years by the state of Vorarlberg and the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce and is the highest award for research, development and innovation. The award is given to innovative products, processes or services of local companies that are already on the market.
In 2023, the prize was awarded for the 18th time. So far, a total of over 450 projects have been submitted by Vorarlberg companies.
An independent jury of experts judges the submitted projects according to the criteria of innovation, entrepreneurial performance and impact of the innovation.
