HolzBauSpezial – Getzner outlines new ways of providing sound insulation in timber construction
The fourth “HolzBauSpezial – Akustik und Brandschutz im Holz- und Innenausbau” (Timber Construction Special - Acoustics and Fire Protection in Timber and Interior Constructions) took place on 13th and 14th March 2013 in Bad Wörishofen. The event attracted more than 200 specialists from the timber construction sector. Getzner Werkstoffe was there with an information stand. Christian Loretz, Head of Marketing at Getzner, gave a technical presentation on new ways of providing sound insulation in buildings with solid timber walls.
The sound transmission between two rooms has been investigated and described for the different construction methods in recent years. However, for timber construction - in contrast to solid construction - there are no uniform standards for prognosis models for sound transmission. In his presentation, Getzner discussed various options for estimating sound transmission and introducing countermeasures. Getzner's vibration experts take into account not only the sound transmission through the separating component, but also the sound transmission via the flanks when making their prognosis. Christian Loretz demonstrated that the impact-joint insulation can be significantly improved by the arrangement of elastic intermediate layers, based on several investigations by various testing institutes as well as on implemented practical examples.
The audience showed consistently positive reactions:
"The lecture was extremely informative for me. It showed that Getzner offers practical solutions for timber construction and has thus successfully gained experience",
summarizes Andreas Golger, R&D Engineer at Stora Enso.
