Major project in Japan: Vibration protection for 255 m high tower and roadway
In one of the largest urban development projects in Tokyo – Loop Road Kanjo No. 2 – Getzner is providing the vibration solution for two important subprojects: on the one hand, the full-surface bedding and vibrational decoupling of the hotel that occupies the upper floors of the 255 m high tower and, on the other, the elastic bedding of a roadway that runs directly underneath the building complex.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government chose Mori Building as a partner for the joint public-private project. In order to optimally protect the structure from vibrations, the bearings are mounted on Sylomer® mats. Installation of the roadway bearing has already begun. In addition to the Getzner-Japan team from Nihon Getzner K.K., project manager Werner Ebster from the Bürs site as well as project inspectors from the Japanese client Obayashi are on site. "With a project of this size, it is very important not only to cooperate closely with the Japanese partners, but also to be directly on site. This is the only way we can constantly monitor quality and ensure that our high-tech materials provide optimum long-term protection for this outstanding architecture," explains Werner Ebster. Storage of the hotel on the upper floors of the building follows. At present, the building complex has reached a height of around 42 floors. In total there will be around 53 floors.
