New vibration protection for fire-prone areas

Of late, people, buildings and structures have been effectively protected from both vibrations and fire using just one type of material: Sylomer® FR is a new vibration-isolating material developed by Getzner that prevents unwanted vibrations. Its fire-retardant properties mean it also provides effective protection against vibrations when installed in fire-prone areas.

Fire protection and sustainability issues are gaining in importance

"When installing vibration insulation solutions, the issues of fire protection and sustainability in construction are becoming increasingly important. Fire-retardant materials are in demand because fire protection requirements are increasing worldwide", explains Andreas Augustin, Head of Research & Development at Getzner Werkstoffe. The new material Sylomer® FR effectively isolates unwanted vibrations and shocks - even in a fire-sensitive environment, thanks to its fire retardant properties.

Combined vibration and fire protection

Sylomer® FR is used for the elastic mounting of buildings and other structures (tunnels) or is used in combination with fire protection panels, in wall and floor structures, in vehicle interiors (buses, cars), in shipbuilding, in wagon floors, in transportation (cable cars and lifts) and for machine mounting under sensitive fire protection requirements. The material has excellent fire behaviour and complies with several internationally applicable fire protection standards.
