Getzner Werkstoffe opened a US subsidiary in Charlotte, North Carolina, in early August. Getzner has become a leading provider of vibration protection solutions for railway superstructure, construction and industrial application in Europe. Among its highly acclaimed projects are the bedding of the Central & Park Panorama Towers in Munich's Arnulfpark, vibration protection for the Northern approach route to the Brenner Base Tunnel, the London Underground and the Berlin-Cottbus railway line. In the USA, The Rushmore skyscraper and the fifteen-floor apartment complex The Touraine, both of which are in New York City, complement its project portfolio.
Opening a subsidiary in the USA marks another milestone in the company's strategy for internationalisation. Its head office in Buers remains the company's centre of excellence in vibration isolation. Getzner is budgeting for turnover of 1.5 million dollars in year one and an increase in turnover of 50 percent a year for the first few years.
"North America is a promising market for us and one in which our area of expertise is much sought after. Charlotte itself is a commercially attractive location and boasts a good infrastructure. There are a large number of potential industry clients in the immediate vicinity," explains Andreas Denk, President of Getzner USA, Inc. Denk has been with the company since 2002 and was formerly also responsible for projects in the USA. The main tasks of Getzner USA, Inc. will be project management and sales; the company will be looking after projects in North America and Canada.
As one of the leading specialists in the field of vibration protection, Getzner is also a well-known solutions provider in the USA: "We have been providing the US market with solutions to isolate buildings and railways from noise and vibrations for more than 20 years. Our closed cellular structure materials are much in demand from industry as well. Continuing demand was the motivation behind establishing our own office. It will enable us to further improve our level of service and respond even more quickly," explains Jürgen Rainalter, Chief Executive Officer of Getzner Werkstoffe. The reference projects include the 130 metre high skyscraper The Rushmore, which is built over a rail tunnel close to Times Square in New York. The Touraine, the fifteen-floor apartment complex on the historic Upper East Side in New York City, also provides the highest levels of comfort, despite its close proximity to subway lines. The building is full-surface bedded on Sylodyn® material from Getzner.
