Buers (Austria), Berlin (Germany): Getzner Werkstoffe will present its vibration protection portfolio for the railway industry at InnoTrans 2024. Another key focus will be demonstrating the role the company’s applications can play in making railway operations more sustainable.
Getzner Werkstoffe, the market leader in vibration isolation in the rail sector, will display its vibration and noise protection applications at InnoTrans from 24th to 27th September in Berlin. On our main stand in Hall 25 the focus will be the track superstructure, while in Hall 1.1. visitors will be able to see Getzner’s industrial solutions that carriage manufacturers can use to increase passenger comfort. Sustainability will be a central theme of the trade fair. Getzner views the current challenges of green mobility as an opportunity to sustainably improve the safety, cost effectiveness and environmental compatibility of rail networks.
Sustainability and cost effectiveness go hand in hand
Getzner’s solutions for protecting the track superstructure reduce wear of the ballast and other components, as proven by real-time measurements taken by the sensor sleeper Getzner has developed, which will also be on show. “Our effective, targeted solutions protect the track superstructure and are also sustainable. Not only do they significantly reduce maintenance requirements and therefore the ecological footprint of the infrastructure, but they also extend its overall service life due to their durability,” explains Thomas Gamsjaeger, Senior Vice President Railway Division at Getzner. Numerous long-term studies have proven the effectiveness of Getzner’s solutions and how they increase the safety and reliability of railway lines.
Reducing emissions: vibration and noise protection
Getzner will also be showcasing our extensive portfolio of highly efficient materials for vibration isolation at InnoTrans. These are used in a variety of different applications – including as under sleeper pads, under ballast mats, mass-spring systems and insertion pads for sleeper boots – to reduce the transmission of vibrations, particularly in the surrounding environment such as nearby buildings and property. However, it is not only vibrations and secondary airborne noise that come to the fore as a result of increasing railway traffic. Direct noise emissions also affect both neighbouring residents and the environment. Getzner takes this aspect into consideration when designing the overall concept and developing noise-reducing solutions.
Highly effective bearings for greater comfort in rail carriages
Ensuring greater comfort and less noise when manufacturing rolling stock are also high priorities for passengers and train crew. Floating floors in rolling stock reduce movement-related vibrations and are used to decouple the driver’s cab and sensitive equipment. The highly effective Sylomer FR material from Getzner fully meets the requirements of the highest fire classification in accordance with DIN 45545-2, HL3, without the need for costly sandwich technology, saving time, weight and space when constructing carriages. Thanks to consistent material properties, it offers long-term protection for decades, which reduces maintenance requirements and increases the service life of rolling stock. Visitors can see these solutions first-hand on the second Getzner stand in Hall 1.1.
Sustainable operation and recycled materials
Sustainability is a key concern for Getzner, both in terms of the business as a whole and our products. As a vibration protection specialist Getzner invests in research into sustainable railway operations and material recycling. Speaking of the company’s orientation, Getzner CEO Juergen Rainalter says: “Our goal is to create and maintain closed loops in order to protect the environment while also ensuring the highest level of quality. The durability of our materials represents an enormous opportunity for reuse too.” Getzner has established a separate subsidiary for this business segment, whose products will be on display at InnoTrans 2024 for the first time.
