Buers (Austria). Vibrations are isolated with elastic bearings made of polyurethane (PUR), as are impact loads. To simplify their design, Getzner Werkstoffe has developed two new online selection programs, EquipCalc and BounceCalc.
The two new free selection programs for elastic bearings have recently been made available at apps.getzner.com: EquipCalc determines the optimal matching Isotop® product for machines and components of building service equipment after entering a few characteristic values, such as the weight of the machine and the number of bearing points. BounceCalc is used to select the most suitable Sylodamp® type for effective isolation of shocks.
"We have developed the EquipCalc online selection program to make it easier for planners, designers and plant engineers to determine the optimum bearing for their machines and equipment," explains Thomas Marte, the product manager responsible at Getzner. The input of the machine weight and the number of bearing points are required for this. Additional values, such as the maximum desired natural frequency or the excitation frequency as well as the available installation height and the type of application, lead to more detailed results. "In addition to the optimum Isotop® type selection, other suitable products are suggested. In doing so, the selection program always draws on the latest product data," emphasizes Thomas Marte. As a result, the user receives a detailed calculation with characteristic values, such as slump, natural frequency under load, insulation efficiency, as well as the product data sheet. All data can be downloaded as a PDF and forwarded.
The Getzner material Sylodamp® is known for its effective shock absorption. The online selection program BounceCalc was developed to determine the right type for individual requirements. "The Sylodamp® material has a high energy absorption capacity and is suitable for a wide range of specific applications. BounceCalc determines the optimum type quickly and easily," explains Marcel Mattheus, the product manager responsible. To do this, a few relevant parameters are entered and, among other things, the deformation, the impact force and the loss factor are calculated. The output document with project designation and all technical data as well as the corresponding material data sheet are then available for download as a PDF.
