The challenges

The use of vibration-intensive equipment such as treadmills, cardio trainers, leg presses and dumbbells causes considerable vibrations and sound transmission, which had a disruptive effect on the rooms below. Despite the vibration insulation measures already installed, it was necessary to increase the noise and vibration insulation requirements at short notice in order to meet the exclusive standard of the building. Just a few weeks before the planned opening, a particularly effective and retrofittable solution had to be found to reliably isolate the noise and vibrations from the fitness centre.

Innovative sound control

The solution

After extensive testing, the decision was made in favour of the specially developed ‘g-fit Shock Absorb Extreme’ material for the floor, which offers efficient shock absorption and sound insulation. Around 200 square metres of the elastomer with tickness of just 75 mm were installed within a very short space of time -which provides over 22 per cent damping compared to the original state.
