Buers (AT). Getzner Werkstoffe, a leading specialist in vibration protection and vibration isolation, has earned Bronze status in a sustainability assessment carried out by EcoVadis, an internationally recognized sustainability ratings provider. The rating underlines the firm commitment Getzner is making to sustainability in every area of the company, and is available for customers to access on the assessment platform.
Getzner was awarded a Bronze Medal by sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis in February 2024. Even though this was the company’s first assessment, it immediately achieved a high place in the rankings. Its overall score of 64 points puts Getzner in the top 16 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis and also places it among the best-ranking companies in its industry segment.
Getzner received an especially high score in the Environment segment of the assessment, where EcoVadis commended the company’s use of energy from renewable sources and safe handling of raw materials and chemicals. Getzner was also among the leading companies assessed by EcoVadis in its sector in the areas of Ethics, Labour & Human Rights and Sustainable Procurement.
The Getzner Group operates its own hydroelectric power stations, which produce green electricity that also supplies the surrounding region. No pollutants are released into the environment during the production process, and the company is able to continue using 90 percent of its waste heat via a heat recovery system. “Our activities generally focus on looking at the entire system, creating closed loops and maintaining them,” says Juergen Rainalter, Chief Executive Officer at Getzner Werkstoffe. “Our solutions also improve sustainability on the customer side, extend the service life and reduce maintenance requirements – all of which have a positive impact on the eco footprint.”
Industrial companies that act as suppliers are coming under more and more pressure, and their commitment to sustainability and environmental protection are increasingly becoming a factor as well. The EcoVadis assessment ensures a transparent and independent evaluation. Having received the Bronze Medal, Getzner can demonstrate that it meets all the relevant requirements. The EcoVadis assessment system is dynamic and geared towards progress in the industry. Getzner is continuing to step up its commitment to sustainability and a circular economy, which puts it right on track with this system. In addition, the ongoing improvement process within the company ensures progress and efficiency.
“The fact that we came out in the top quarter of the EcoVadis assessment on our first attempt is a real success,” Rainalter is pleased to note. “But we’re not going to sit back and relax, because we need everyone to keep working on sustainability if we are to create a future worth living. And we’re going to do our part to achieve this.”
EcoVadis is the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings. Since its founding in 2007, it has assessed over 125,000 companies and established a global network.
